Concrete Masonry Units

Concrete Masonry Units (CMU) is primarily used in the construction of walls, and is one of the several pre-cast concrete materials used in construction. They are termed pre-cast because they are already produced before being brought on site. The importance of high quality concrete blocks to the overall quality of the walls constructed cannot be overemphasized. Hence, proper care is taken to produce high grade concrete walls.

The production of concrete blocks consists of a few processes of which mixing is one. Mixing basically involves a combination of water, sand, gravel and cement in a block machine. Concrete block machine mixtures generally contain a higher percentage of sand and a lower percentage of gravel and water for construction purposes. However, merely mixing these raw materials in the block machine does not guarantee quality. The machine requires vibrational transmission, as well as a relatively high modulus of elasticity in order to ensure energy transfer to the fresh concrete; strong pallets are needed for this purpose.

The production of Concrete Blocks Machine Pallets requires monitoring to produce quality blocks of the required properties; such as smoothness and height. The blocks emerging from the machine are taken through certain quality control measures to ensure these properties are met. After this, the concrete block is cured by keeping it in the mould for up to 24 hours for drying. The concrete Block Machine Pallet is then removed and put in a water tank for curing. This process provides the required strength to enable the concrete blocks withstand compressibility.
